We are both thanking the Lord and his human hands (Aaron Wilkinson, Kwasi Kena, Tom Benjamin, Wayne Schmidt) for an incredible new start to the year at Wesley Seminary.
We have a record 29 new students here this week to start the MDIV. 6 of them will be joining the Tom Benjamin cohort that will be meeting on Saturdays at the Indianapolis North IWU campus. 3 will be joining the onsite cohort in Marion and the other 20 will be together online. Also here this week is a whopping 40 students in John Drury’s Easter elective. Amazing!
Next week Colleen Derr will launch the first Youth and Family Ministry cohort in our MA in Ministry program with close to 20 new students in Family Ministry for the 21st Century. And let’s not forget the MA Leadership concentration that will start next week at the same time with about 15 as well.
These numbers are staggering and, as Provost David Wright pointed out today, put us in the top 25% of seminaries in the country in enrollment.
We don’t take these blessings for granted. We are thankful for this season of blessing in which many people have been obedient. They have taken the talents the master has given them and have used them for good rather than burying them in the sand.
What a pleasure it is to be a part of this wonderful community of students, faculty, and staff!
